Single Tooth Implant
Lillybrook Dental is your local Kallangur dentist restoring smiles with implant dentistry
A single tooth implant is a dental solution for patients who need to replace one missing tooth. Including both the implant and crown, a single tooth implant, functions like a natural tooth.
Which is better for replacing a single tooth? Tooth implant vs. bridge
When we consider the options for replacing one tooth, a single tooth implant has a number of benefits relative to other solutions for tooth replacement:
- Improved appearance – Not only does it look and function like a natural tooth, a single tooth implant does not impact the teeth on either side of it.
- Bone integrity maintained – Another advantage is that as the base of the dental implant replaces the tooth root, the bone surrounding the tooth does not deteriorate and allow the bone to remain healthy.

There are a number of steps to a single tooth implant being placed.
Step 1 – The base of the implant (which is a small titanium fixture) is surgically placed into the jaw. Over a period of between two and six months, the titanium fixture must bond to ensure it is strong enough for the artificial tooth.
Step 2 – An abutment will be placed over the implant either immediately or after a few months depending on the case.
Step 3 – The final step involves placement of a crown on the single tooth implant, which is held in place with an abutment.
